Overview

selFrag AG offers a technology that can be used in multiple segments of major industries: examples include the mining of high-purity quartz from mixed mineral deposits, recycling of electronic scrap and automotive parts, or recovery of metal from smelter slag and the bottom ash of MSW incinerators. The technical superiority of this process enhances the value of existing production practices - and what is more, it allows processing of new mineral resources or high-grade composites that are difficult to handle with existing methods.

There are vast opportunities for customers who work with high-purity strategic minerals and materials in many sectors: raw quartz mining or quartz glass manufacturing, mineral processing and recycling of electronic and automotive scrap or ceramics recycling, to give just a few examples.

Manufacturing Processes

Manufacturing processes: selFrag systems can fragment and granulate production waste of high-grade materials for recycling purposes and to increase production yields. Typical areas of application: manufacturing of high-purity quartz glass or silicone.

Recycling Processes

Recycling processes: selFrag systems can disaggregate composite materials of all sorts to facilitate sorting and to improve the recycling yield (electronic and automotive scrap recycling, concrete recycling).

Mineral processing

Mineral processing: selFrag systems can selectively fragment raw materials to liberate mineral inclusions or to increase the quality and quantity of products (high-purity quartz, diamonds, platinum, etc.).

Liberation of amethysts and gemstones

Amethyst- und Edelsteinlibrierung

Amethyst crystals or other intergrown gemstones can largely be liberated from the crystal composite without damage.

Concrete recycling

 Betonrecycling

Concrete is a typical composite material comprising gravel, sand and cement stone. Concrete structures have limited lifetimes and they constantly need to be renewed, creating many millions of tonnes of used concrete each year throughout the world.

Recycling of electronic and automobile scrap

 Elektronik- und Autoschrott-Recycling

Waste from the electronic and automobile industries includes

composite materials containing valuable substances that are often
difficult to liberate with mechanical comminution methods on
account of their complex structure.

Laboratory sample processing

 Labor (inkl. Video)

selFrag Lab is perfectly suited for the selective fragmentation of mineralogical and geological samples as well as composite materials in the range of a few kilograms. It offers the possibility of selectively liberating target specimens while minimizing the by-production of fines.

Metal recovery from slag

Metallrückgewinnung aus Schlacken

Metallic smelting slag from copper and stainless steel production, or slag from waste incinerators, often contains significant percentages of pure metals in the fine-grain range which are often impossible to recover cost-effectively with classical methods.

Obtaining high-purity quartz

Gewinnung von hochreinem Quarz

Selective fragmentation with selFrag Technology makes it possible to liberate high-purity quartz crystals from composite rock largely without contamination and with low loss of undersize particles. The expected yield is significantly higher than for mechanical comminution processes, and the degree of downstream processing is substantially lower.

Quartz glass recycling

Quarzglas-Recycling

The selFrag Glass plant makes it possible to preserve value by recycling high-purity quartz or speciality glass.
