SELFRAG was in the news again yesterday, this time on the German technology overview ‘Galileo’ on the Prosieben network.
Dr. Volker Thome of the Fraunhofer institute was interviewed about his research using the SELFRAG Lab system into the high voltage pulse fragmentation of concrete for the recovery of industrial sand – a rapidly dwindling natural resource (http://science.sciencemag.org/content/357/6355/970).

Dr. Thome detailed how this crisis will affect the global construction industry, and how efforts to re-use and recycle concrete aggregates are imperative to meet future demand: A high throughput SELFRAG system would form a key part of this innovation step.
