Centro Due
Second Swiss waste-to-value facility, under construction
Introducing Centro Due
SELFRAG Centro Due will process 45'000 tons of raw slag per year and reintroduce up to 50% of the total mass as valuable products back into the material cycle. Located in Kerzers (Fribourg), Centro Due will process slag from waste incineration plants in the cantons of Bern and Fribourg.
Construction started on 5 November 2024. Commissioning is planned for 2026, after which Centro Due will become the largest waste-to-value facility in Switzerland. Discover all the Centros ›
Pioneering IBA treatment
Centro Due builds on the proven technology of Centro Uno, scaled up to nearly 30% higher capacity. The facility is located in the new industrial zone Wegmatte in Kerzers on land secured through a 40-year land lease from the municipality.
SELFRAG would like to thank the residents of Kerzers for their trust and the municipal council of Kerzers for their continuous support. Learn more about the technology ›
Environmental impact
With a capacity of 45'000 tonnes of IBA per year, Centro Due is expected to avoid approximately 22'500 tonnes of CO2 annually. Combined with Centro Uno, the two facilities will save around 40'000 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Every new SELFRAG Centro contributes to Switzerland's circular economy by recovering metals, iron oxide, and minerals that would otherwise be lost in landfills.
