We know we only have one planet. We therefore relentlessly work on transforming waste to value by improving recycling and recovery rates, reducing CO2 impact, and closing the gap to a functioning circular economy.

Our value proposition

Recover 50% of slag treated

SELFRAG's unique technology and process allows the unprecedented recovery of at least 50% of the slag treated. The volume to be landfilled will so be reduced by 50% and at the same time valuable metals and minerals will be recovered and so reintroduced into the economic cycle.

Our business model: We develop, construct, finance, own and operate Waste to Value (W-t-V) plants.

Conventional and innovative technologies combined

A mix of conventional and innovative technologies to recover values. Our multi-step process combines coarse treatment, pre-sorting, HVP fragmentation, metals recovery, minerals cleaning, and water treatment into a seamless recovery line.

Our partners

A strong network across the value chain

We work with incinerators, financing partners, industry networks, universities and specialized engineers.

Incinerators

We enter into long-term slag contracts with waste-to-energy plants to treat the slag generated in the incineration process. At least 50% is transformed into valuable materials.

Financing

Swiss Life (Fontavis) secures financing of 8 W-t-V plants. Centro Uno has backing from Credit Suisse, Swiss Life and core investors. UBS provides additional banking support.

Metals & minerals

A network of metal companies (traders and smelters) sells recovered metals. Exclusive agreements develop products from recovered minerals.

Strategic partners for CO2 quantification, industry standards and climate advisory.

Science

Collaboration with universities including the University of Applied Sciences of Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) drives continuous technology development.

We are growing

Our first SELFRAG slag treatment plant Centro Uno in Full-Reuenthal (AG) has been in operation since March 2023. Centro Due is planned in Kerzers (FR), close to SELFRAG's existing premises, and will be in operation by 2026.
